New to the website today are these images from the 1986 F1 season which saw Riccardo re-joining Brabham after two dispiriting years at Euroracing Alfa Romeo. Brabham introduced the radical BT55 designed by Gordon Murray for Riccardo and new team mate Elio de Angelis but the car did not prove to be successful and Elio tragically lost his life testing at Paul Ricard. Riccardo's best results with the car were two sixth places (San Marino & Detroit), but he did qualify in the top ten on a number of occasions, although he wasn't sure how he achieved this in Monaco. The car had no power steering, and given the driving position and power available, this was quite an achievement.

Given the difficulties with the car Brabham decided to run the old BT54, which had to be dusted off and brought from the Donington Collection, for the British GP at Brands Hatch in order to compare performance, but this was a one-off and the team finished the season with the BT55 and just two points in the championship.
